Refers to the manner of text speech used by the stereotypical AOL user on message boards and specifically AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). It is composed of 'words' (not used in its technical sense) generally made of one syllable or less.

The AOL Translator will take your dissertation prospectus and make it legible to AIM users. The only difference between you and them is that you're being Internet ironic.

There are several examples and definitions of AOL speak available in the category listing. Most of them involve "LOL", "ROFL", "OMG!!!" and of course, "I am a 12 year old girl with an eating disorder and an allergy to sunlight. At some point I will marry a man who has a moustache and dreams of moving to Soho."

Raping native speakers to death is considered by many to be a lifelong calling.
