Douglas Adam
From Encyclopedia Dramatica
Douglas Adam wrote under the pseudonym Douglas Adams so that people would think there was more than one of him and be suitably awestruck. As far as we know, he did not have a LiveJournal.
Douglas Noel Adams (as he liked to be known) was a furry humorist and writer, famous for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio show/TV miniseries/five-book trilogy/major motion picture media orgy. He also wrote the Dirk Gently books and cowrote The Book of Liff, but these works are as well-known as Ayn Rand is concise.
He's also credited with creating the oldest of all old memes.
Douglas Adam's initials were DNA. He was born at Cambridge (in England) two years before the discovery of deoxygenated... dexyribbon... the other kind of DNA. He thought he was clever for mentioning and explaining this coincidence whenever the chance arose, despite having no control over either the name his parents chose for him or the massively important scientific discovery. If for some sick reason you find that charming or witty, you may want to consider reading, listening to or watching The Hitchhiker's Guide in one of its many forms.
Adams was a big fan of all Apple products, and would boast in writing about how many Macs he had in his house (at times as many as four). Despite being one of Apple's earliest and most vocal advocates, he never learned how to switch any of his computers on, preferring to dismantle them and sellotape bits of circuit board onto a shop dummy, into which he would tearfully masturbate.
Doug died in May of 2001 at the age of 49. He suffered a sudden heart-attack while jogging on a treadmill. Given his writing, he'd probably appreciate the massive irony were he not very fucking dead. He was a staunch atheist, so his final thoughts were probably less artful than "now comes the mystery." They were probably more worldly and self-interested, like "I should've eaten the cheesecake in the fridge" or "I should've had an exerbike."
