Encyclopedia Dramatica is awesome. But what is it not?
Many people read ED and treat it as if it were some half-assed operation like Wikipedia because of the similar interface. Here are some important distinctions.

ED is Not Anarchy
Encyclopedia Dramatica does not believe in anarchy. While we do hold Votes for Deletion for pure lulz value, we don't really pay attention to the results.
ED is Not a Democracy
ED is not a democracy. Far from it, really. It's actually a Sherrodcracy, and if you have any problems whatsoever, you can take them up with someone who cares.
ED is Not a Mediacracy
That's more of a LiveJournal thing.
ED is Not Neutral
Many wikis, wikipedia in particular, attempt to establish a "neutral point of view", thus giving neutral, unbiased information. They attempt to be informative, whereas encyclopediadramatica strives to be lulzy. Any point of view is only ever required in order to impart enough information to make the lulz funny. A brief intro of fact followed by a complete disregard for reality and lots of swearing is a typical formula for an encyclopediadramatica article. Attempting to neutralize the view points found herein will ruin the website, thus most likely resulting in the offending user experiencing the ban hammer.
In short: Making everything have a neutral point of view detracts from the Good Joke:Word Count Ratio significantly. Articles that have a POV are funnier, especially if it is our own. For more information, see NPOV.
ED is Not Unfunny
We are not unfunny-- we are funny.
ED is Not Hitler's Uncyclopedia
If you are under the impression that the hallmark of a good article is to make up a bunch of random bullshit about niggers and kikes, you're on the wrong wiki. Encyclopedia Dramatica exists to document internet memes, culture, drama, people, and events. Uncyclopedia exists to document nothing, and to take up a lot of space doing so. We are not a content-free encyclopedia.
ED is Not *Chan
Encyclopedia Dramatica is not 4chan, 7chan, 420chan, or Jackie Chan. We may document *chan memes and drama, but we are not defined by *chan memes and drama, nor are we an extension of /b/.
ED is Not Your Personal Army
While Encyclopedia Dramatica documents the efforts of various trolling organizations, we are not a trolling organization. We do not exist to come to your aid in your efforts to harass and humiliate retards on the internet. That's more of a /i/ thing.
ED is Not Your High School
Encyclopedia Dramatica doesn't give a shit about your petty cliqueish drama. Take that shit elsewhere.
