Typically abbreviated as "LJ," "liveurinal" and "eljay," and occasionally by nerdraged users as "elgay," LiveJournal is a free online journaling service created by Brad Fitzpatrick under the Danga Company owned by Mena of Six Apart, who described LJ as "a journaling service with a lot of teen girls screaming OMG." It was recently sold to the Russian Bolshevik company, SUP, creating many conspiracy rumors. It's all true.

Those who use LiveJournal are called LJ Users, LiveJournalERS or, moar frequently, LJers. Every Emo Kid has an LJ.
