Nedm
From Encyclopedia Dramatica
NEDM, an acronym for Not Even Doom Music. It is a meme, born from the darkest bowels in YTMND as reaction to the death wish of a certain Belgian individual that wished to risk the rest of his life trying to get 15 minutes of fame on the internet doing something stupid.
In a video made in July 2005, the then 26 year old put his pet cat Mottles in a small cage and decided to douse it with flammable liquids and set it on fire to the amusement of his teenage male partner holding a video camera. Another teenage friend of his posted the video on the internet for the masturbatory response of thousands of adult children over the internet, and boy did they both receive in return with the creation of the NEDM meme.
Shortly after the video's creation it was promptly smeared all over the Internets like this morning's breakfast at a ghoul necrophilia eaters convention. It is considered to be the arrival of the “Faggot Meme” phenomenon, but much like any act of its type it is just a repressed expression of homosexual love on the internet (i.e. men trying to impress other guys by being violent towards something that can’t fight back such as children, women, or animals in hope that they’ll be viewed as masculine by “other guys”). Some guys have to hurt cats because this is important to their social standing with other men and many males consider a cat to be a feminine pet.
NEDM is the also the source of much Internet drama and hate from those who can't appreciate vigilante activism from both those on and away from YTMND. Belgium police had the task of trying to placate the audience as well as protect the offender the many LULZ threats that were to follow the aptly named “Poor Belgium Fellow” afterwords. Fortunately, drama began quickly after a "HelterSkeltor" did what any reasonable netizen would do after witnessing an unspeakable horror from the Internets: he posted a link to it. He then told all of his friends who the cool guy that found it was, basically setting himself up to be placed on a lower social scale than the offender himself.
In a rare fit of compassion a large group of forum members rose up and declared it unfunny, and moved forward to ban whoever made it from life. The stupid fuck had neglected to use a proxy when posting his ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES and his IP address was traced. By then everyone who was involved was seriously fucked. The teenager who had originally posted it was immediately arrested and the Belgium fellow who originally tried to entertain the Internets turned himself in for fear that vigilantes may find out who he is before the police did, and after his arrest all videos were deleted by the Internet police.
It was also apparent that the Poor Belgium Fellow was feeling very sorry for himself during the police interview that his young teenager courier had fouled up “internet anonymity” and that he was now in serious trouble for the next 20 years wondering if anybody was ever going to stick a red hot iron poker up his asshole on videotape and spread it as a “retribution video” on the internet. The poor Belgium fellow also walked out of the police station wondering how well the Belgium police were going to protect his now fragile ego from any media scrutiny.
It remains unknown whether or not Portal music would make NEDM funny. But one thing was for certain, the poor Belgium fellow would always have to think twice about meeting new friends in real life even over the next 30 years. After all, he could have inspired generations of vigilantes that would love to play with his 60 year old asshole 30 years from now. He made sure he carried a knife for personal protection around on his person for the first 6 months after the incident, even if it was solely to protect his ego.

[edit] Creation of the NEDM Meme
A year after the video’s creation and posting on the now defunct shocksite “ogrish”, a member of the website YTMND that went by the name “Baron” decided to post the video himself on YTMND but had personally edited the video to include music from the classic computer game named DOOM. The subsite was deleted within hours of creation, but not before many YTMND users had voted on it. However, the comments on the original cat-burning YTMND disappeared with its deletion. Outraged that anyone would give to a site glorifying cat immolation, another user on the YTMND website named “Titanium-Gecko” began to downvote all sites created by users who had five-starred the burning kitten YTMND as a protest.
In a counter action, the subsite was then upvoted by a number of people. Among them was YTMND user “Spotz”. After noticing that all of his sites had been downvoted by Titanium-Gecko, he explained that he only upvoted the burning kitten YTMND for the "irony of using the Doom bunny music", not because he condoned or approved of the actual burning of the cat as seen in the image. Even though Spotz explained this on one of Titanium-Gecko's sites, on April 12, 2006 Titanium-Gecko left the now “legendary” comment on Spotz's test site: "Okay Spotz. Since you do not "condone" burning kitten your sites have been 3'D until further notice. Still... nothing justifies 5'ing burning kittens. Not even Doom music."
Inspired by this altercation, YTMND user moheevi began posting "NEDM" as a comment on many YTMND subsites. Others would follow suit, some so stupid without even knowing what he meant by it. Later he would create the original NEDM site using Jean Claude Ades's remix of We Interrupt this Program, followed by several others. At first, NEDM sites simply featured the cryptic letters "NEDM", with no explanation given as to what they meant, such as AwesomeBob's "NEDM is coming." Eventually, moheevi created a site using the happy cat image, which Stratos-the-Bratos saw and used for the third NEDM site. After seeing one of StarOnion's sites, Moheevi updated the original site to include this picture, with the infamous 'chapstick' quote.
Few people understood the joke behind the NEDM sites until Spotz explained it on the YTMND forums, and revealed the story of the now-deleted burning kitten YTMND, and Titanium-Gecko's one-man crusade against it. Since then, the NEDM fad still remains somewhat misunderstood according to its supporters and content creators. The creators of the fad state that it in no way supports animal cruelty. NEDM simply means "Not Even Doom Music can get you a rating of five stars" (because the site is usually bad or random). NEDM can be applied to anything, not only animal cruelty. Because of this, the fad is one of the most varied on YTMND. Unfortunately, however, none of the NEDM tributes or videos contained a shred of personal information of the “Poor Belgium Fellow” who many considered a person worthy of having his arms and legs cut off with a chainsaw, or at least put in a cage himself and set alight, or burned slowly at the stake.
[edit] YTMND Administrators try to cash in on the drama
In retaliation to the drama the Internet Police took away countless Internet licenses for failure to be forthcoming with information in their proceedings, they then DFE'd but much to their surprise the video reappeared on YTMND by other young adult children who were infected with the “Faggot NEDM Meme Wannabe Syndrome”. The video spread like AIDS until it was quickly deleted as it was both original, funny but still very threatening to the Poor Belgium fellow’s reputation and personal safety in real life, and an apparent “major breach” of YTMND rules.
This, however, did not stop YTMND trying to increase its advertising revenue and hit counts by adopting the video as if it were created by them and they became the proud creators of the now “famous” meme. Whether or not the hypocrisy displayed by the YTMND administrators in claiming to ban the video but encourage the offshoot meme ever did raise advertising revenue for that month remains unclear; however, it does seem that the number of Adult Children that frequent the YTMND wesbite has grown exponentially, leaving some of the YTMND administrators wondering if they could try the same kind of thing sensationalism with child kidnapping articles and images and videos of sexually abused children.
So far, although claimed otherwise, the administrators of YTMND have not exploited recent child sexual abuse scandals for their own profit but did attempt to further cash in on the NEDM meme by creating a website called the NEDM investigation located at http://nedminvestigation.ytmnd.com
This website features lots of dark eerie music mixed with periods of upbeat techno, while displaying quotes from YTMND users in a feeble attempt to claim ownership or fame based on the aftermath of the video. Essentially, YTMND can only ever take the credit for exploiting this act of animal for monetary gain (advertising revenue) and meme’s popularity, and not anything to do with the actual event itself. In other words YTMND won’t ever truly benefit from the story unless they form a partnership with http://www.liveleak.com or try and attract more adult children and fucktards willing to spend time creating NEDM tribute videos for the benefit of their ego's as well as YTMND's readership and advertising revenues.

Mottles the cat was back in a big way for every fucktard this side of the google ship to salivate and cream themselves over. Lulz instantly ignited, the fields of Internets were engulfed by flaming kittens and Internet hate machines, NEDM had been born. The term quickly spread as it was only the coolest thing ever invented and soon it was declared that NEDM was, in fact, coming. Smitten by Titanium-Gecko's butthurt, a moheevi quickly whipped up a remix of the original video with Coburn's We Interrupt This Programme [Jean Claude Aimes remix] accompanied by happycat. The lulz hit hard and by the next day it had spread all across the Internets. NEDM had become a monster of a meme and produced much lulz, but it soon died as YTMND kills everything with any comedic value sooner or later although Chapstick was later thrown in for comedic effect. This is all fact, fuck you.

- Original NEDM video
- NEDM Investigation YTMND Explains NEDM in detail, not all that interesting. Very inaccurate and incredibly sloppy for not revealing the animal killer's full name and address for vigilante retribution.
- not to worry though: The people involved are Kishor Nokayonokatsu, 26 years old, responsible for killing the cat and Glenn van den Meerssche, 15 years old, who filmed the scene.
