0chan is a fairly new kusaba based imageboard stemming most of its crowd from the refugees of 420chan's most recent downtime. The site has two administrators, Spec and Ziron, and features several of the boards listed on /b/ as well as boards from 420chans Drug section and a music upload board to get Spec and Ziron pwned by the RIAA. 0chan was recently subject to a furry spam script and due to its lack of security it is most likely due for another unless Spec attempts to do something about it.
As of 11/10/07 @ 8:15PM PST the mods, being faggots, closed the drugs boards out of fear of the partyvan. This is made of fail and AIDS. This is a strange action, since their main easily googled page is riddled with pedo. Drugs are far less illegal than this.
Now, it is generally referred to as "SecretChan" to confuse and infuriate newfags, who upon going there, get 404'd
Disregard all the shit above this because whoever wrote it sucks cock. 0chan has been around since last thursday about four years ago. The site went through numerous ups and downs mainly due to so many yiffing furries on it until it finally crashed.

04chan is a chan board fighting the cancer such as You Laugh, You Lose threads. It was formed by Epix to to create a chan filled with original content and new memes. It started off a little slow, and has had some shitstorms, but is still doing well. Many new memes have been formed. The original Epic Fail Guy has now died, and a new EFG has taken the mask. There is also another, who wears a Pyro mask. Somehow, old EFG came to life again and is called unEFG. Nobody really knows what that's about, but whatever. There is also Pedo-Pez, the PolkaB&, and more. The mods may occasionally joke around with the bans, but when it comes to spam or copypasta, it is taken very serious. Though, for those who like copypasta, there is the /n/ board. People cannot get banned from this board unless they post illegal content, such as threats. Right now it's getting some major updates. It originally ran Kusaba but has switched to custom Futabally based scripts. Right now, only the /b/ board is public, and even though there is no link to it, several people have found it.

30chan(baleeted) (Now almost30chan for the time being) was created by a britfag named Harbl and an Amerikkan named Buddhakyle to rebel against f0rt and his "*failchan making ways," who would be constantly making new chans (11chan, 8chan.ws, ninechan). 30chan is notable for being an /i/nvasion headquarter amidst the Fox News drama. The chan had a very strict policy on what was posted, especially in /b/, to try and stop the cancer. Furries, excessive spam and stale copypasta were insta-ban and sometimes deleted almost right away. 30chan also added /cam/ which was a unique feature that allowed users to embed their stickam player on the page. It also had a java chat for planning stickam raids, which was the main purpose of the board. Most of the time, however, it was used to post the moderators' cocks.
30chan was quickly v& after users spammed links to its /i/ board on 420chan's /i/ during an epic raid, which actually failed, making Kirtaner bleed out of his ass and have a pissy fit. He reported 30chan to it's host and the FBI was soon involved. Shortly after it was taken down, Harbl went missing and only returned once and has yet to be seen again.
As of late January 2008, 30chan has been resurrected once again as almost30chan. Most of the mods and admins have returned to bring back what once was lost. it's dead, again.

315chan, created by denvetta and Picatta, is an alternative to 711chan and Mudkipchan, containing a mixture of drug addled RL raiders , people in love with a certain blue pokemon and of course newfags. 315chan claims to be a haven from modfaggotry and promises to be fair on all matters of chan life (ie bans, who gets mod, etc). It is named after the Ides of March raids against Scientology on Christmas Day, 1969.
315chan has embraced the doctrine of "decentralisation" thoroughly. After taking Chanology off the hands of 711chan, who thought it was a smouldering wreck it "decentralised" the project into a series of boards, hence ending the moralfag/blackops divide.
This *chan used to have a full ED page, but due to a vigilant movement by a certain ED user it was removed reinstated. Not that it matters at this point. The chan itself is currently up and running after some server problems.

4anon (she is dead) is a Kusaba based image board that is moderated by anonymous and is aimed to make a board specifically for where Project Chanology can congregate. 4anon was an attempt at being a notable /i/nvasion headquarter like 30chan used to be, and it's believed strongly by many people that Samuel L. Jackson is the sole creator of the board. This chan has a no policy rule on what is posted in /b/ other than illegal content, however they claim to "Encourage" win over fail. According to the anonymous too much fail, leads to copypasta and cancer. Excessive spam is deleted almost right away and the anonymous there do not forgive. However, during certain times, it is known to go into "Mayhem Mode" where posters can do whatever they want without moderation. This of course, is just in /b/. This probably won't last long, and is only happening now to increase traffic. As far as the boards go, anonymous have decided to do what many people probably should have done, who have hosted their own chans. They have only 4 boards. /b/, /i/, /pc/ and an /x/ board. This keeps all of their traffic on 4 boards, and basically sums up everything you can do on a chan. /pc/ of course, is a board called Project Chanology. There will be updates on how the board progresses considering this chan is fairly new.

4-ch is a BBS for simple and fun communication. It features an anonymous discussion system, allowing people to talk about a variety of subjects.

4ch is reportedly run by Squeeks, though recent evidence has shown him to be dead.
Threads die at 999 posts, and at this point a DQN will usually start a new thread to continue discussion. This rarely happens as 4-ch's community is pitifully small.
Popular 4-ch boards include /DQN/, /love/, and /nihongo/.

4-ch is known mostly for its actual serious discussion of different subjects, as well as its immense love for anything Japanese (read: Densha Otoko). Probably the most tame out of the other American text boards (AKA none), it usually has the few, the proud (the three) users talk about things that are interesting to them. It is better than most other *chan sites due to the fact that it isn't a direct clone of /b/. Together with the fact that everyone who goes to 4chan spin offs are rejected /b/tards not cancer, 4-ch is very appealing.
A big part of 4-ch is DQN, also known as "The Faggot Hideout". Basically, this is where all the weeaboo jap-fags gather together to post random 2channel memes. Even though these people don't actually GO to 2channel, they still believe it is funny to post memes that they don't even get. This board is the most active (sadly), and is known to have the highest concentration of waps on the internet.
Another thing about 4-ch's culture (or lack thereof) is the fact that it is directly based off 2channel. Because of this, many fags come in and try to use 2channel memes, which usually end up failing and/or making a fat nerd chuckle. Because it is really just an English 2channel, many Japanese come into the site and speak horrible English for the users. They usually come on trying to get help with learning English or just to chat, but every single board turns into a fight about who gets to talk to the REAL (oh my god) Japanese first. In real life, it would be portrayed as a fat anime nerd and a skinny anime nerd fighting in mud. By the way, while reading this article, free feel to switch the word nerd/faggot/idiot/weeaboo/wap/cocksucker/etc. to the word otaku. Additional Pylons is a website with lulz and pics that revolve around it's tamer /b/ board (/pylon/).

Additional Pylons is a place of epic win and ajax powersupplies. Originally starting off as a /b/tard chat room it quickly evolved into a gaiafag free AJAX powered lulfag fest. Most of the people have been banned from 4chan and rather like it that way.

A mostly-neglected sister site to Desuchan, mainly used when the main site is down due to DDoS or DNS fuckeduppery or some other shit like that. A side-effect of Bokuchan's relative peace and quiet is that it lacks much of the drama that plagues its sister site. Bokuchan hosts many of the same types of boards as Desuchan, most notably a full set of boards related to Rozen Maiden and each of the dolls from the anime/manga, as well as other boards dedicated to general anime/manga discussion (/a/), hentai (/h/), oekaki (/o/), and random shit (/b/). Bokuchan also hosts a few other boards not present on Desuchan, including one for writefagging (/story/) as well as a Japan/general board (/jp/) for all the weeaboos.

Freechan is a culmination of Echochan and Failchan, both now defunct. The chan holds to the idea of making a place like 4chan used to be, since 4chan is seen as overtaken by newfags and gaiafags, lol. While Freechan is an attempt to escape gaiafags, they are tolerant of furries, as long as the drama most often entailed is spared. But of course, some places need to be okay with furfaggotry. Where else could you get such magnificent trolls? With any time spent on the site's /b/ whatsoever, you begin to know the site's regular participants, or at least the most active.
On Dec. 14, 2007, Free Chan became a temporary refugee for /b/tards while 4chan was down because of Angyl, then was quickly raped by /i/nsurgents for ruining everyone's lulz.
As of June 20 2008, Partyvan.info says that Freechan /i/ is the main /i/. This is causing a mild influx, which is really 711chan's fault for dying on us.

A long long time ago a site named Hyperchan was born, it hosted porn boards for far different genres for men to fap to, Then the evil CP dumpers came and the site died. A new era was born and hyperchan was made again!. Consisting mostly of porn boards and a few general boards this site might be what the average fapper is looking for that is if it gets active. The site will once again host different fetishs and genres of porn that is if it stays active. Infinitychan (not working) is a small new board with lots of potential for small amounts of win started by some winner named sli. It is growing at a suprising pace now. Some random nigger told all the oldfags to go to ∞chan to escape the cesspool of fail and cancer that is now 4chan in the legendary Alexander sama efg thread. This is now known as the great migration. Currently becoming a chemo center of sorts for refugees.
Sli is known for catering to everyone's needs. This is evident through the wide variety of fetish boards on infinitychan such as /fur/, /l/, /sm/, /gu/, /gl/, and /lbg/. Infinitychan's small but growing user base combined with it's lack of moderation has made it a target of CP floods in recent weeks.
Infinitychan is dead. ;=; It was the only fail and cancer free chan since Chanology started. It will forever be missed by every oldfag on 4chan. Please note that this was the only time in the history of the *chans that CP was actually a bad.

Junkuchan is another Desuchan wanna-be, with less Rozen Maiden and more LOL RANDOM XDDDDDDDDDD. It was created by a bored cosplaying weeaboo who goes by the nick "desu", and serves no real purpose. It's also hosted on LOL FREE SERVER SPACE which doesn't allow pr0ns, warez, loli, or any really worthwhile stuff. it does have a Chanology board, of course. Basically, 100% fail.

Kriegchan (Back after 4 months of death) is another image board, created on November 12th, 2007 by IRC user named lulbat with the help of 2 coders. It was intended to give the inhabitants of the Partyvan IRC network a proper board of their own, instead of leeching off other boards to use their /i/ (Invasion) boards. Some time in mid February the board went down, seemingly never to return.
Hosted in America by an English company, its /i/ board used to redirect to partyvan /i/ due to fear of getting v& for hosting their own. With lulbat finally growing a pair Kriegchan now has an /i/ of its own. The admins are fairly fast to hire mods on a trial basis to see if they can do their job before deciding to sack them. It was decided to bring Kriegchan back on Wednesday 26th June 2008 due to popular request, and januszeal flooding lulbat with "bring it back" messages. New board suggestions and moderator applications are reviewed via email or Kriegchan IRC.

Paintchan.com was created on Nov 2007. It was at first intended to be a place for sharing MSPaint Relationship Threads, but later more boards where added.
While its primary source of lulz are MSPaint drawings, it also has some photography based boards, such as /sw/ (swimsuits) and /hr/. Anyways nobody uses them because all boards are worksafe and porn/nudes are not allowed. It also has two Oekaki boards and a General discussion text board.

Run by a collective of /b/tards and hackers, exiles from HackThisSite who have a reputation of being expecially stupid, and computer programmers and hackers, is known for having some specialized scary boards with pretty graphic shit. Famous for exploiting the 14 year old camwhore known as "Heather" and making her rub tomatoes, hot sauce, bread and cottage cheese on her budding nipples.

ZeroChan.org is ran by an insane spic (spic 2 to most 7channers), Caprisun was finishing his 12th taco as part of his mid-morning snack while browsing /b/. He became angered at his lack of tacos and the poor moderation of *chans when he decided to create his own chan, thus ZeroChan was created on April 4th, 2007 with the intentions of having a chan with maximum lulz and freedom.
During this time there was little traffic to his Kusaba-based imageboard. Upon seeing this Caprisun started to throw tacos at the ceiling while yelling profanities in spanish for at least over 9000 hours before falling asleep for 96 hours before taking down ZeroChan, for several months. Until he decided at another go with his chan. This time he moved to a dedicated server owned by a friend. When he moved his ZC to Apollo he was greeted with many problems, Apache and PHP proved to be a bitch at first with both of them breaking constantly along with a piece of AIDS called Cpanel, which caused more 500 errors than the shittiest apache config ever written. He grew tired of running a chan once again, leaving it unmonitored for several months before really giving it another chance at his chan.
Once again more problems were to follow and the site has been put on a hiatus for the time being. The future of ZeroChan is now in discussion, for the time being it will redirect to 711Chan. Although the site is down the IRC is still alive.
On January 1st, 2008 the site was given to Necrobilly after he paid Caprisun 1 million tacos and gave him a blowjay. The site is now up and currently active, it has been a safe haven from the fail and aids that most chans bring. A new year brings new hopes for this chan, and we will all enjoy the lulz of watching it once again epilepticly win.
