The screamer also known as prank flash animation or screaming flash is a simple and yet extreamly effective way to make people shit bricks. The flash "What's wrong with this picture?" is said to be one of the first examples to show up on the internets in 2002. Of course within minutes ebaumsworld, picked up the flash and popularized the prank causing an explosion of imitations and variants.

[edit] How it Works

It involves a Flash program that displays images carefully selected for their apparent relationship to some premise, such as subliminal messages. Many of them also include ridiculously quiet soundtracks, either very quietly played "scary" music or someone whispering incomprehensibly, which would appear at first to be part of the ambiance. Of course, in reality, this is all just a setup. The images have nothing to do with anything, and the soundtrack exists solely to force the unwitting viewer to turn up the volume.

After causing the unwitting viewer to stare intensely at their screen and listen very very carefully for at least 100 minutes (which by itself can be Lulzy to watch for the prank-player), the Flash will usually suddenly display very scary images accompanied by a loud scream played at max volume. Because the unwitting viewer has already cranked their volume up, their eardrums explode and they inevitably piss their pants. Witnessing this will probably cause you too to piss your pants from the sheer lulz.
