About Encyclopedia Dramatica
Done in the spirit of Ambrose Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary, Encyclopedia Dramatica's purpose is to provide a central catalog for the e-public to view parody and satire of drama, memes, e-pals and other interesting happenings on the Internets. Our goal is to provide comprehensive, reference-style parody, to poke fun at everyone and everything. You can read more about the origin of encyclopediadramatica in our About section.

Anyone with a web browser is welcome to participate, as long as you read and agree to the General disclaimer. You are required to create an account to edit articles. Other than that, there are no requirements.

Ways to Help
If you have free time and would like to help out, here's a list of things that can be done:

• Check the Needed page. This is a list of articles we would like to see and information we'd like to find.
• Check the list of wanted articles. This is automatically generated when two or more pages contain links to a page that doesn't yet exist.
• Categorize articles. We have a list of existing categories and a list of uncategorized articles. To add an article to a category, click that page's edit link and at the bottom of the entry, type [[Category: Category Name]] (Where "Category Name" is the relevant approved, existing category) and click "Save Page". e-points if you mention what categories you added in the summary box.
• Expand on stubs - view Stub
• Rewrite crappy articles - view Crap
• Add images to articles - view Upload
• Eliminate dead-end pages by adding links to other articles - view Deadendpages
• Review {{opentasks}} to see if there is anything else that needs to be done.

I'm not sure why but I think I'll place the final nail in my coffin as a respected Wikipedia editor by proposing a recreation of Encyclopedia Dramatica. If the article is going to even stand a chance of being recreated though, it will need reliable sources. Do you think that this site should have some kind of disclaimer on the main page that people under the age of 18 shouldn't enter seeing as it has a lot of gross shock images. I'm glad TJC is back. Actually, shock images don't appear to be illegal. The only thing ED has to worry about is that a lot of times a company will register a trademark and steal someone's domain, like apple registered itunes and stole itunes.co.uk from a site that had used it since years before apple started itunes. encyclopedia dramatica and variants don't appear to be registered trademarks or service marks and ED should register as one. http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/tac/tmfaq.htm#Search004 ...     • I think it's a combination. There are some anons that are burning out, to be sure, but there are also others gaining interesting; the numbers are fairly static. The real problem is that each protest is performed in much the same manner. The media can only report on "a bunch of masked protesters showed up at the local Scientology building this month" so many times before it gets stale. Anon, thus, needs to keep coming up with new ideas so as not to become stale. I mean, sure, Guy Fawkes makes a good talking point, but if Anon really wants to grab headlines, they need to decentralize more and move away from the simple Guy Fawkes Mask routine. As it was discussed on Enturb last month, it could be fucking win if a bunch of people raided the San Fransisco org dressed up as Battletoads while the London org had a bunch of rabid furries storm the street and Clearwater was struck by a Seaking float.
