There is no 'true' Citadel -- there have been tens, probably scores of various types of Citadels since the early 1980s. Furthermore, DOC isn't Cit/UX, it was vaguely based on Cit/UX 3.0 over 15 years ago. Cit/UX today is VERY different from DOC. DOC is a Citadel, and DOC and its offshoots are the primary Citadel codebase still being used to facilitate BBS drama today. If anything, this could be made into a disambiguation page pointing to pages about the types of Citadels, but I really don't think that's necessary as only two (maybe three) of the Citadel-descended codebases are in any sense still alive: DOC, bbs100, and Cit/UX (which is the least Citadel-like of the three). The current state of the Citadel universe could probably be pretty comfortably contained in the same article as the history of it. Neurophyre 00:58, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I see you were making the changes as I was writing the above. I believe Cit/UX cribs some code from earlier sources, and DOC was loosely based on Cit/UX, with some code cribbed. If I or anyone else gave enough of a shit they could probably find a direct lineage. Download a stable release of vDOC at http://vdoc.evernex.com/ if you care to look through that awful code.
