  • I'm aware that this current page isn't exactly the funniest thing ever. However, the version that fuckwit above linked to is much worse. That's what we don't want - 100 pages of mindless namecalling and poorly written 'I SAID NIGGER LOOK HOW FUNNY AND EDGY I AM!' jokes. Ideally, a page that incorporated shots at black culture but made light of racism in a satirical, intelligent manner would be the best. However, since that probably isn't going to happen, a blatantly offensive article can also work. Humor through offense can definitely work (see Nigger Manual), but you have to know how to do it right; problem is, most people don't. They just resort to NIGGERS R STOOPID HUR HUR. I wouldn't mind this page so much if it stuck to a strictly unoffensive, informative format; i.e. add a little more text in and trash the gallery. But then, five sentences of nothing isn't really funny either. Thing is, we don't need an extensive page on niggers, since we already have a whole fucking lot of articles on the subject. I only added the video to the makeshift article, at the last minute, because we needed more material, and to make him look like an even bigger douche. You need to go back to a January 2007 edit, get rid of everything except "Surviving a Nigga Attack" and 1/3 of the pastimes list, keep the picture of the mulatto with the Harry Potter book, the nigga spy costume picture, the "i'm lovin' it" picture, and the boom car picture, and then just rewrite the intro to be short and sweet, delete everything else and lock the article forever, because god damnit this article was a magnet for people who thought, "Gee, I want to be a part of it too but I have no idea how to be funny so I'll just edit it anyway and add this embedded YouTube video that somebody else made, and if anyone gives me shit about it fuck them I'll just revert cause I'm a badass!" As much as I believe User:Bringbackthefunny is a raging faggot, I must admit that he and others have a point - keeping this article in its present state presents a misbalance in our coverage. I still prefer it to the old version, but that doesn't mean this present version is good, either. It's not particularly funny, clever, or any more internet related than the last version. Personally, I don't give a damn, fuck, or flying shit if an article is internet related; as long as it's funny, well written, and documents something of importance. It's not like we're ever going to get the site to be strictly internet based, anyway. Internets may be our main purpose, but face it; we have a lot of very good material that isn't related to the internet, much of which attracts people to the site. As for this article, how do you niggas feel about a disambiguation page? Like, a small intro (the word nigger originated... it has come to refer to... random nigger jokes... OTI it... blah blah blah) then just add a see also section of all of our nigger related articles. Of course, that's kind of what the present page tries, but fails, to do. So, I'm just gonna throw my 2 cents out there in support of Chunkmunky's rewrite (given some more work, of course). However, it needs to be firmly stated that there is a difference between stereotypical niggers and black people. In my mind, the "niggers" that you racist fucks like to go on about are as far removed from black people as rednecks are from white people, terrorists are from muslims, etc. Without this being mentioned, the page will look like it was written by retarded 12-year-old racist suburban white kids. If I could rewrite the page any way I wanted, I'd make it a documentation of the meme of "there are no niggers on the internet" and lead into a discussion of all the image macros and textual memes that have stemmed from that, leading up to a lot of the content on 4chan and other sites, as well as the attitudes of those sites. I love the image macros and I love satire in the form of Nigger Manual, but the "blacks are subhuman ape creatures" stuff isn't satire, it isn't creative, and it's got nothing to do with any of ED's goals. I agree that other pages like White people have also become monuments to unfunny bullshit, but this page became a monster and drew the attention of a lot of people as a particuarly bad example. The problem is that we can either focus on rewriting all of ED's existing shitty content or focus on adding new things while slowly improving what's left. Nobody is singling this article out because we give a shit one way or another about anyone being offended by it, but of the existing bad articles, it is one of the worst and that's why it draws so much attention. I know that the original doesn't fit with the "purpose" of ED but I don't see in any way how the new one is any better. The old one may have been long as hell but at least I could get a good chuckle out of it. The new one is just a fucking disgrace to all that is lulzy.
