Gaming Cleanup

WhiteMystery (or any other sysops involved in this cleanup), here's the list of gaming articles (there may be a few I've missed that aren't on the template) as well as my thoughts on them.

  • Achaea - Never played it, but apparently it's some old-ass MUD. It seems to have internet relevance, but the article's kind of boring. I'll leave this one up to you.
  • Aertheca - Not much internet relevance (or content, for that matter). Apparently, it's a multiplayer online game or something, but it's pretty much unknown. Thumbs down.
  • Animal Crossing - Should probably have an article (furry-based, multiplayer, popular, easy to ridicule), but the one that's up could use some work. Then again, so can many other articles. I'd keep it for now.
  • Battletoads - Must have.
  • Bioshock - Not very internet related, but I think it's a good article. I got the inspiration to make it when I noticed several instances of people trying to link to a Bioshock article, so there must be some interest in people seeing a page on this game.
  • Bomberman - Stub like, crappy article, no internets. Just some pics and terrorist jokes. To the gallows.
  • Call of Duty 4 - No. But an article on the Call of Duty series as a whole might not be bad, given it's done right.
  • Castlevania - Classic series, mediocre article. Not bad, though, and has some internet relevance. Keeping it would probably depend upon how strict you wanna be.
  • Chrono Trigger - Good game, decent article. Has a lot of page views, so it must be popular. Needs moar internets, though.
  • City of Heroes - Good internet relations, funny article. I'd keep it.
  • Counter-Strike - Would keep.
  • Custer's Revenge - Would keep.
  • Dead Rising - I think this is a funny article, but it doesn't have any internet relations. Again, your call.
  • Diablo 2 - Very popular game with a large fan base and opportunities for criticism/drama.
  • Doom - Should keep, but the article's kind of gay.
  • DotA - Seems internet related and everything. Never played it.
  • Duke Nukem Forever - Would keep it cause it's a running joke on the internet and elsewhere, since it's been in development for like 20 years.
  • Everquest - Internet related because of the MMO nature. Article's kind of boring, but I'd keep it.
  • Evolves - Internet related, but shitty article and unheard of game. This article's actually pretty recent. I'd kill it.
  • Fallout - I'm looking forward to Fallout 3 and everything, but this article just isn't that good and lacks internet relevance.
  • Final Fantasy - Too popular and too much potential for drama to get rid of
  • Forumwarz - Must have
  • Gears Of War - Meh. I lol'd at the article a bit (also helped revise it), but it doesn't really need to be here if you wanted to clean up.
  • Gloom - I don't know much about it, but the article's decent. Seems to have internet relevance.
  • Grand Theft Auto - Must have
  • Guitar Hero - Must have
  • Half-life - Should be merged with Half-Life 2
  • Half-life 2 - Should be merged with Half-Life
  • Halo - Must Have
  • Kingdom Hearts - A bunch of Disney characters and a lot of fanfic and shit with a large fanbase; those are the positives. The article could use a bit of a revision though, and there's not a whole lot of internet relation. Your call.
  • Legend of Aurea - Apparently very internet related, but rather boring article. Your call.
  • Legend of Zelda - Would keep; classic game, easy target for ridicule, large fanbase.
  • Marathon - Stub, not really funny, no internets. To the gallows.
  • Mario - Must have
  • Megaman - Classic game and everything with a decent article, but no internets. Meh.
  • Metal Slug - Shitty article, no internets. Kill it. Good series, though.
  • Metroid - Classic series. Would keep just for the Samus porn... which it needs more of, by the way.
  • Nanaca Crash - Looks to have potential... would keep. Also, Weatherman created it, so it's probably worth keeping.
  • Night of Bush Capturing - This is that game created by Al Qaeda, so it should stay.
  • Pac-Man - Shitty article. Might be worth keeping if the article gets a massive overhaul, cause it's one of the first well known videogames. But right now, it sucks.
  • Parappa The Rapper - Um... not really sure what to say about this one. You might just wanna take a look at it.
  • Phoenix Wright - Common on the internet and "memeish". Should keep.
  • Pokémon - Must Have
  • Portal - Must Have
  • Quest 64 - Known for being very shitty, but I don't think that's quite enough to warrant an article.
  • Resident Evil 3/Resident Evil 4/Resident Evil Outbreak - I'm usually against having large articles in lieu of several smaller ones, but this is a case where I feel it would be beneficial. There's no need to have four resident evil articles (counting Resident Evil 5). The series should probably stay, though.
  • Second Life - Must have. Not even really "gaming" in the same sense as the other articles.
  • SkiFree - I think it's a funny article, but Girlvinyl added an {{links}} template, so maybe it should be flushed. Or improved, at least.
  • Silent Hill - Not very "internetty ™," but it's a decent article, and Pyramid Head is sort of an internet meme.
  • Sinistar - Short article, but important, as it is a joke that moot pulled on 4chan one day. Also somewhat common on /v/.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog - Must have
  • Soul Calibur - Not really necessary. Entertaining article, but it's really just another non-internets, forgettable videogame page.
  • Starcraft - Must have
  • Street Fighter 2 - Meh. Important for being a very influential fighter and for having like 50 different versions, but not really necessary. Gets referenced on the internet a good bit, but that doesn't really make it internet relevant.
  • Subspace/Continuum - Boring article. Seems to have some internets relation, but that doesn't mean it should stay.
  • Superman 64 - Same deal as Quest 64, just a short article about a notably terrible game.
  • Super Smash Bros - Must have, even though the article kind of grew out of control, much like WoW.
  • Tetris - Article's kind of boring. Your call.
  • World of Warcraft - Gotta keep, even though the article grew a bit out of control.
  • Xenosaga - Never played it, but it's apparently an anime-type series for the playstation. I don't think it's really necessary to keep.
  • ZDaemon - Based around internet drama and associated with Doom. Article kind of sucks for anyone who isn't already involved with it (i.e. me)

Not on the template, but game articles nonetheless:

After seeing all of these articles that were never added to the template, I'm feeling a lot more sympathetic towards some of the articles on classic games that are just somewhat lacking in internet relevance. Anyway, here's a bunch more. There also seems to be a ton of mediocre articles on individual gamers/communities that might need to be looked at. One thing at a time, though.

Other gaming shit

The console articles appear to be good. I just revised PS3 and Wii last week, and I fixed up Xbox 360 a while ago. All three are on my watchlist, so I'll make sure they don't get fagged up again. I haven't checked the others in a while, but they should all stay. All of the other related stuff seems okay, too. But again, it's ultimately up to the sysops. ~ Endedrural (talk)

  • THIS IS AMAZING! Thank you so much! I'll be getting started on the cleanup tomorrow and I can't tell you how much I appreciate this! WhiteMystery

No problem. <3 ~ Endedrural (talk)

O hay, saw this on RC, here are my thoughts.

  • Dead Rising - Pretty popular page, so I'd keep it.
  • Kingdom Hearts - Lots of fans, needs more rule 34. Popular anyways.
  • Legend of Aurea - KILL
  • Superman 64 - This is a gaming meme, so to speak, and thought to be the WORST game on the planet
  • Tetris - Classic game, admit it's a bit boring, but the video at the bottom made me "wtf" a bit, and some pics are pretty good.
  • Xenosaga - Funny, probably since I've played one part of the game series, and hot anime and azn tits are A+, but I don't think that many people have played it.

The rest I don't care enough to make a decision right now. I'd actually like to be talking to you, WM, and other people if possible while you're doing this for additional thoughts, but I don't know how we can do that since IRC is down. Maybe that WebChat thing that is coming up, although I'm having trouble registering, site error. I'll be on tomorrow around 2:45 PST, and will be on for a good three hours before I have to run, if you want to wait up for me. If we can't talk, you have a good sense of things yourself, so have at it anyways, plus you have this help already. I miss IRC already =[ --   JailBait    talk    contribs   23:15, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

  • When did IRC go down? And why? Also, agreed on Superman 64, Jailbait. ~ Endedrural (talk)

As the writer of the Castlevania article, I would like to say that I'm willing to improve on it, if I knew how. Plz advise. HedgeJew 05:31, 15 April 2008 (CDT)

Resident Evil & Final Fantasy

I, too, think it is annoying that there are so many Resident Evil pages, but they seem too long to be just one article. Would a disambiguation page help, so that just Resident Evil could be linked to as a way to the other pages? The same could work for Final Fantasy as well. --Infin8Monkeys 17:51, 1 May 2008 (CDT)

Shitty editors

Page for the game Folklore added. --Scourge 19:20, 22 October 2008 (CDT)

An Halo needs to be added.

Quite relevant.
