Should we really use the {{welcome}} template if the first edit a user does is a defacing? Personally, look at Things to revert before slapping {{welcome}} in the user's talk page. If the first edit that user makes is a defacing, I don't welcome him at all. What should we do for trolls, welcome them, slapping {{unwelcome}} or just leave the link red? ~ Krade 20:58, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)

• We give them the benefit of the doubt and stick in the welcome template. It isn't really a "welcome", anyway, it's advice that might help them not get banned. The only time I wouldn't use the welcome template is if they are a vandal, blanking articles or whatever. This really needs to have a part about how the search function is usually borked and how when changes are made to a page it sometimes won't refresh to the updated page. That get asked about alot. I suggest something along the lines of "ED has to spend its money on legal defence and cannot afford to hire at least 100 virgins to live in a basement and maintain its MySQL like on TOW" as the reason.--Einsidler 08:50, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
