Tripcode

A tripcode is a function used on certain image boards with the purpose of authenticating a person publ the gobbledegook you see after fags' names on 4chan. If said 'gook matches the gook in the user's previous posts, it's the same person.

It works like this: In the name field, type a name, followed by #, followed by a password (or phrase, whatever). Then send a message as usual. You'll then see your name, followed by said 'gook. GOD HELP US IT'S BACK.

  1. In the name field, enter tripman#tripcode
  2. Send a message as usual.
  3. Your name in the post will appear as something like tripman!3GqYIJ3Obs

[edit] Purpose

In the previous example, people will know that the person claiming to be "tripman" really is tripman, by comparing the text string after the ! to previous posts of his.

While it can be found out that tripman's passphrase is "tripcode," this takes time, hax and motivation.
