[edit] NEW FORUMS DESIGN CONTEST
We are looking for some xhtml and css to use for our new forums. I would like it to look kind of professional, slick and maybe even crazy. I need backgrounds to be very light though. Here is the beta layout that we have been using:

Also please do not just replicate the example layout that I showed right above. I thought is was obvious, but we already have that.
Here are some layouts that I think look cool:
I highly encourage woodgrains and plaids.
All you need to worry about is creating the DOM and the css. This is a one column layout that will have links to categories within the header. From the link above, you can kind of see what we are generally going for. I need one column. Maybe kind of like digg, but with no right column for menus, etc. We will be using a pulldown menu in ajax. I am down with whatever colors look cool.
The forums we are making are going to freak everyone out so this is a good chance for you to get much internet cred. You can also help shape the new face of encyclopediadramatica.com.
Make any DOM/XHTML and css and post a link to it here.
I will give the winner a prize, and if we use your layout I will link your site from the new forums. Post your entries below. You have one week from today. There may not be any winner. It is very important that this gets done and it looks good.
So in conclusion, please make something that is somewhat original and looks professional. Then link that below. I am also always in need of a good designer, so if this works out I have a bunch of other work that pays.
Do not submit shit that looks like a wordpress theme. We are not interested in that.
Also if you had been showing stuff to ajt, post it here.

I figured I'd post up what I have so far, since there isn't much time left. I'm more or less happy with how it looks, apart from maybe the colours on the posts and I need to fix that clipped button. It's valid XHTML+CSS but I need to put in a few hacks before it's IE-friendly (should work fine in Firefox though, if you want to see it properly - http://www.joeyroe.co.uk/dramachan/layout.html). I'm also guessing that you need more than the page shown in the picture so that'll need a few more lines of css.

- you should maybe specify to ppl that their original designs need to be done as some approx. specified size / resolution - and to post reduced sized images here -> and then when designs have been chosen they need to email you the full size files... eg. minimum dpi equal or greater than 180dpi / image size 10x5 inches which would be around 5mb for a photoshop file -> if ppl dont do it this way, there is a danger that thier designs might have to be redone (perhaps from scratch), or worse the shirts produced look shitty.
- also maybe work with transparent background so designs can be done on different color shirt but i dont know the mechanism you are using to get them printed? but if you are outsourcing [skreened.com] apparently do a good service and you can adjust the mark up - and choose different shirts / hoodies / colors for your designs to be put on.... just poking my nose into business that is not mine :) ... interested in how you are doing it tho
