THIS IS SERIOUS; READ IT.

Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:

1. New User

Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.

If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. Take your time and start slowly.

2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.

Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.

Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list.

If you plan on sticking around, feel free to make your mark on the ED:Map and join the all new ED Facebook, the ED Myspace the ED Bebo and follow the ED Twitter.

I understand what you need done, and it is similar to my current work, but I really am unfamiliar with wikimarkup as you can tell, so I probably wouldn't be that much of a help. But I have developed modified phpBB boards for myself as well as a large company in the past (freelance homeless bum work). I'm intimately familiar with its layout system and most of the underlying PHP code. If you're interested in an open-source solution for your forum, let me know via email.

As odd as it seems I was at one point an admin for a lesser wiki, well that wiki died and then had a pathetic attempt at recreation. The original had like 307 articles until some myspace fag put on some phishing script on it which pissed off the server people and the site had to be taken down. So yeah we were h4xed. Actually, I can do some nifty web design without the use of tables or wysiwyg tools, but I've only experience with html+css. If you want server-side php code or stuff like that, I haven't even touched up on it yet.

Pretty much the only web site I've designed in this manner is http://horses4rent.com (which currently semi-breaks in IE6 due to some absolutely positition non-sized elements, although it is still accessible). I've only rudimentary knowledge, but I would imagine that I've enough skillz that if I was given a basic layout idea I could do it in HTML & CSS and make it compatible with most major browsers. --Blu Aardvark 04:57, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

I am a CSS geek. I am well experienced with CSS and XHTML. I try to make my pages W3C standards compliant, and I try to render them properly in IE5+, Gecko 1.5+ and Opera. My most recent design was on the Ohio LinuxFest site where I worked with Drupal 5.0 and created a theme with all sorts of gradients and whatnot. I am also a Linux fag, so I do all my shit in ViM and The GIMP. I've been registered on ED for about 2 months, but have been browsing since the start. Longtime reader who felt the need to become an hero. If you're looking for an ED redesign, it's almost imperative that some PHP gets mixed in as well because MonoBook is homogay and is hard to design around. I have plenty of experience [1] with CSS and table-less designs. I also have two 1U servers that I run out of my home, the primary webserver operating on 300GB HDDs in a mirrored raid configuration, with an internal 10/100/1000 copper LAN. However, my connection sucks, and I'll need a connection upgrade if you're expecting me to handle massive loads of users.

Hi. About a week ago, I connected to #ed for the first time via irc.bantown. I was banned about 10 seconds after connecting without having done or saying anything. Now when I connect I get:

I can do some level of CSS-based web design, although I've yet to perfect it (my CSS validates, but I've had problems with IE, and that's a Bad Thing). If you can give me a basic idea of what you want done, though, I might be able to get a CSS-based page going.
