Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:
- 1. New User
- Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.
- If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. Take your time and start slowly.
- 2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.
Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.
Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list.

Have you asked to get the old account back? I really did like the letter sequence in the old one more. Anyway, the critics of Sarkozy in that article are full of shit and this is a reaction to their shit; North Africa sure doesn't have to invent a history and make stuff up to be part of history, but there is a lot of bullshit in US universities (black studies courses and various riffs thereon that just push absolute crap about involvement and cultural level in the ancient world (Ethiopia an obvious exception)) and totally miss the point (as that article does) that a relatively static society (apparently low level and not part of history) where you really can pluck what you need from the trees or herd things and get what you need by barter, sale, sharing, people have lots of close connections, old-style land title etc. can be very comfortable, even in the modern world, until other people who want to force it fully into the modern world do so to make a forced sale of everything, especially the land, and the forcers make the profit. I've only seen it in another part of the world, and doubt that Africa was ever as relatively benevolent even to fellow Africans. Worst thing is that those spaces are all being destroyed by greed. Also the spectre that African tribes were eager to sell off slaves, slavers then mainly being Africans on the initial retail level, selling to first Arabs and then increasingly Jews on the wholesale level; it was the latter that introduced the custom to post-mediaeval Europe and led to the American trade, in which Jews were players far out of proportion to their numbers. There was also a slave trade in Europeans in the early days, organized by the same bunch. This is a very interesting site. They have some good articles. Thanks for the nice reply, I was pissed (non-US meaning) or wouldn't have said so much. I remember you saying you were a c. s, able to ed from work (enviable). I don't really like "Orwellian" as an adjective (too often misused by journalists and used to justify things he would have hated), but guess it is in the language. I also think he was wrong about a lot of things, but I do love his writing.
