Hello, Hagger?

THIS IS SERIOUS; READ IT.

Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:

1. New User
Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.
If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. To start you off:


  • Sign your comments using four tildes (like this ~~~~)
  • To answer a message, reply on the user's talk page.
  • These are the sysops. If you have a problem, talk to them.
These tips will hopefully prevent you from getting raeped by the ED admins.


2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.


Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.


Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list and ED IRC. If you need an admin, the list of active ED Sysops will let you know who's around. To chat with or to ask for help from other ED users, then please hit up the experts in #wiki on our IRC.

  • At first glance, I think some tags aren't being closed. ED's version of mediawiki automatically closes divs and tables and other containers that are used in templates, but later versions don't. Make sure both of the tables and both of the parent divs are being closed. It looks like the first one definitely isn't closed and the second one may not be either. That would explain the stretching out to the side of the boxes. WM 11:53, 16 July 2008 (CDT)
  • OK, the four things that I put at the bottom of the article in the <includeonly> include only tags and the </div> inside the <includeonly> tags in the middle are what I think is missing to use this on another site. WM 13:20, 16 July 2008 (CDT)

Problem with Template Vandalism

The wikipedos have a program (i forgets what is called) that allows you to preview a page by moving your mouse on the link. When you do this, a little box comes up and gives you a preview of the page therefore exposing your vandalism. I know this because I had this program when I wanted to be a trusted user and then block everyone and vandalize everything. Just giving you a heads up if you didn't know about this program already.   1. Spamming edits. The preview button exists for a reason; use it.
  2. Deleting large parts of an article or dumping excessive amounts of text onto a page. Major changes to an article should be discussed with a sysop prior to making them, for quality control purposes.

Note: You will never be blocked automatically for edits to your user page, talk page, anything in your userspace, or the Sandbox. These are all good places to work on something that might require a large number of revisions.
