Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:

1. New User

Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.

If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. Take your time and start slowly.

2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.

Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.

We don't really delete images on ED unless they're duplicates, because a) they could be used elsewhere and b) they show up on Google image results. But I just found out that this was a policy, like, yesterday, so I don't blame you for not knowing. :)

I am still quite new here and learning to format things properly.. But something I've kinda ran into though, is 99% of the links at the bottom of the page, are screenshots of LiveJournal threads, mostly text saved so he doesn't delete everything. And all but a few exceed the 125k limit for uploading to ED. I figured that hosting them on bayimg.com would give them the undeletability needed as well as keep excessively large files off of ED's servers, so I don't piss off the admins.

• Yeah, he's in live mode now instead of just logging with all the bot vandalism we've been having. It's been in live mode since (I think) Thursday, but I just turned on the reverting two days ago. Right now it only reverts obvious blanking and replacing and I'll evaluate how that's working before I have it fix more. So far I've been pretty happy with it. It just surprised me by reverting something I didn't tell it (that little tiny edit it just did) but I'm not going to complain. I think it's becoming sentient. I'm also working on a tool that fixes the double edits that break rollback so we don't have any more situations like this morning. The mere fact I could mistake a meme for what the meme represents probably speaks volume for the notability or lulziness of the meme itself - ED documents memes which are epic or noteworthy, but we're trying to sort the wheat from the chaff.
