User talk:Klokwerkaos
From Encyclopedia Dramatica
Hello, Klokwerkaos
THIS IS SERIOUS; READ IT.
Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:
- 1. New User
- Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.
- If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. Take your time and start slowly.
- 2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.
Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.
Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list.
If you plan on sticking around, feel free to make your mark on the ED:Map and join the all new ED Facebook, the ED Myspace the ED Bebo and follow the ED Twitter.

[edit] Troll Alley
Hi, I deleted the article you just made. ED does not exist for you to advertise or recruit for your trolling club. Please take a look at Encyclopedia Dramatica:About before making any more pages. White•Mystery
[edit] Response
I think you're lucky that I deleted your article - anyone else probably would have indefinitely banned you for telling them to eat a cock :) For future reference, trying to insult someone doesn't work too well as a "polite appeal" but I just rubbed one off before reading your message, and I'm in that pleasant, post-orgasmic state of mind right now.
Above all, ED is an encyclopedia. I stand by the notion that your article reads like a recruiting piece, and vanity content such as that is off limits here. Parts like "members had this to say when asked to comment" and "If you are already actively trolling on one of these sites and wish to host an official TA office please go to TA IRC for more information" are prime examples of that sort of thing.
If I hadn't deleted it on my daily run through the trenches, another sysop would have for the same reason. If people get the impression (from any article, not just this one) that ED exists to promote or encourage trolling versus documenting it, it leads to a whole lot of bitching and moaning that sysops, not ordinary users, have to deal with.
I think you're making a lot of undue assumptions, both about me and my opinion of you. Your page was one of probably 40 that I've deleted today - I didn't target you because I thought you were a fanboy, or that I had some "gay mod" agenda. It set off a flag on the list of rules I've been given to enforce, so it got flushed. Leaving you the message on your talk page was a courtesy that I don't give most people whose articles get flushed, but because it looked like you put some time into your work, I figured I'd give you a heads up so you knew what was going on.
I certainly don't mind if you want to remake the article. Really, anything that leads to fresh, new content is exciting to me. Your assumption that only a core group of people are allowed to edit is flawed - a majority of our content is from new users. I'd encourage you to make it in your userspace at User:Klokwerkaos/Troll Alley so that you can work on it until it's ready to be a full article. None of our sysop tools look in a person's userspace when we're going around flushing stuff, so it will be left alone. You're welcome to contact me when you're happy with it, and I'll put it back where the original was.
If you want it to live, it can't read at all like a recruiting piece. It needs to factually document your organization from a third person point of view. It's great if you want to link to your site, or "offices", or whatever, but none of this "please go to TA IRC for more information" stuff. Links, screenshots, transcripts, and detailed accounts of your targets would be great to see and would really make the article worth keeping. If you need example of existing articles that you should view as an example, I can provide them to you.
Anyway, this is the one reasonable response you're going to get from any of the sysops on this site. You're not going to have any luck going up the chain, because one, I'm one of the most tolerant sysops here, and two, nobody higher up in the chain really gives a shit. If you want to have an actual "polite" discussion on this, we can talk. I don't think low enough of you to assume that just because you're from a trolling organization that you can't converse like a normal person, but if that turns out to be the case, you'll just get banned for good.
[edit] Other Response
Admitedly, the GNAA is super famous, but if you're writing about a trolling organization, it wouldn't hurt to model your article after that a bit. The section on "Joining the GNAA" is a good example of how you can advertise membership, but still make it funny and not obvious recruitment. It still has the "shitting on the organization" feel, even though if you know anything about the GNNA before hand, it obviously isn't.
If I hadn't been in the middle of a big batch of janitorial stuff, I would have moved the article to your userspace at the name I suggested. That's my typical approach, but as I already mentioned, I was knee deep in other stuff that was only distracting me from some of the development work I need to do for the site. If you want, I can move what you already wrote to that name if you don't want to start over from scratch.
Careful with those assumptions, again. I'm no writer - everything I do on site is janitorial (just enforcing rules) or development - so as much as I'd love to give you a sample, the best I can do is point you toward good articles. But things like a history aren't necessarily boring. If you look at the article Cyde, for instance, there's quite a bit of history. Nothing dry like dates, as you mentioned. But getting the full story on how, why, when and where your group was founded so people reading the article know what's going on would be kickass.
In retrospect, your article was better than 90% of the new stuff on here. It was a survivor on a life raft that got wiped out by a wave of shit. If you'd simply written to me nicely and asked me to give it a second chance, I almost certainly would have. What you need to understand is that ED isn't like other sites. Here, if you "let the mods know that you're past caring" that they can ban you, you just get ignored and banned. Nobody gets sysopped here for any reason other than being a good user, and nobody stays sysop unless they continue to contribute as a user would; none of us have forgotten what being a normal user is like. But in addition to that, we revert vandalism in the thousands of pages and ban dozens of idiots every day, so it's hard not to get jaded after a while. Furthermore, the idea that the mods here want their dicks sucked is 100% false. Flattery gets you nowhere and if you keep it up after a sysop tells you to stop, you'll get a ban for it. I think that you need to lurk moar because your ideas about this site as far as the staff is concerned are simply incorrect.
Anyway, I read the link you posted, and I like the changes you've made so far. Why don't you get in touch with me when you're done the Chaindix article, I'll clean up the wiki syntax for you a bit, and move them back into the normal article space.
- Hey, I love the new draft and the changes. I'm happy to move it back to normal article space when I'm back tonight or I can wait until you finish the Chaindix article. Let me know what you'd prefer. White•Mystery
- It's back at Troll Alley and I left the link in your userspace for your convenience. When you're happy with the content, I'll take a run through all the wiki syntax, but I'll hold off for now in case you're making any big changes. Nice job! I'm really looking forward to seeing these future articles. White•Mystery
- Hey, the code for redirects is #REDIRECT [[Page Name]] and that is the entire content of the page. You can see an example if you go to Nigger you'll get redirected to Nigga and the top of the page will say "redirected from X". If you click that, it'll take you to the actual redirect page and you can view the code. White•Mystery
[edit] Second Life
I saw your comment on some guys page about that faggotry, I can't believe you haven't heard of the Patriotic_Nigras. They are the fucking bane of every furfag on second life and have an assortment of lolscripts which crash sims and servers. --Drunkenlazybastard 05:20, 27 December 2007 (CST)
[edit] New Article
Grr, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, your message was lost in several other talk page messages and I just saw it. I love the new article and I'm excited to hear what this new partnership will bring about. The PN articles and screenshots are probably some of the funniest we have on site and I can't wait to see what develops. If you haven't seen the one about the giant floating ass and balls invasions, please let me know and I'll link you! White•Mystery
[edit] Yes Pl0x
I'd be very interested in the stuff you have on Jenny. --subseven 02:05, 2 December 2008 (CST)
