THIS IS SERIOUS; READ IT.

Congratulations on joining ED! You probably fit into one of these categories:

1. New User

Before making your first article look over ED:101. Try checking out random articles and fixing typos, grammar and/or bullshit where you find them before trying to make a new page. To start with, make multiple small edits to different articles until you have the hang of it. If you don't, it is unlikely that your article will survive for more than sixty seconds and you risk being molested by ED Sysops.

If you don't know anything about wiki formatting and code, please read ED:BASIC and the Style Guide. To start you off:

• Sign your comments using four tildes (like this ~~~~)
• To answer a message, reply on the user's talk page.
• These are the sysops. If you have a problem, talk to them.

These tips will hopefully prevent you from getting raeped by the ED admins.

2. Mediawiki Migrant If you're an experienced wiki user (probably from a Wikipedia offshoot) who knows how to operate, please read ED:101 for offical policy and ED:MIGRANT for tips on assimilation and basic rules.

Whichever you are, to successfully contribute to ED, please take some time to look around, note why other people get banned and don't act like they did.

Communication with other users prevents misunderstandings and can be done through talk pages, TJC and the mailing list and ED IRC. If you need an admin, the list of active ED Sysops will let you know who's around. To chat with or to ask for help from other ED users, then please hit up the experts in #wiki on our IRC.

If you plan on sticking around, feel free to make your mark on the ED:Map and join the ED Facebook, the ED Myspace the ED Bebo and follow the ED Twitter. If that's not enough ED for you, feel free to join the all new ED Forums.

Hey, you've made an article about Flash mobbing that, unfortunately, doesn't meet our current standards. Please keep working on it here. Once you have worked on it, contact a sysop to see if you've improved it enough. If you don't know what to do, here are some tips:

• Do not recreate your article in the main namespace. Work on it here.
• Read ED:LULZ, ED:101, and ED:RR.
• Make it long enough to be worth reading (a few paragraphs, at least).
• Use headings and insert images.
• Link to a few sources. We appreciate embellishments, but frown on outright fabrications.
• Spare a few minutes and take a look at a tutorial written up by one of our seasoned writers. There's some great tips there that'll definitely improve your article making skills.
• If you require assistance beefing up your article, then hit up the experts in #wiki on our IRC.
