Yo

Yeah add video to Chad Warden page, or at the least provide link so I may study further.

ur Atheist EDit

i am not going to revert as whatever it was wasnt funny (and i dont care)... but i actually think it may have been added by an atheist... i have read and seen documetarys about how Jesus went east age 13-27 and returned after his blainesque party piece ... there is a sacred grave in kashmir (i think somewhere near pakistan anyway) that is believed to possibly be jesus's grave .... the sacred graves have feet moulding on them where it is .. and the jesus one has nailmarks in the feet(and is about 2000 yrs old) ... i cant remember the name of the guy they say is the Big J ... but its mentioned in a number of books that are about Jesus being humanoid.

--- i havent read the article for 4 months... so i dont rly know... there was some good intellectual stuff on their that BLARGH did (who is a christfag)... but he is gone now ....

yeah i have seen zeitgeist .... and i was like .... i was pretty bored of the inaccurate christ / religious stuff of the 1st third ... then as soon as the 911 stuff started i was like LOL when are they gonna blame it on the jews ... then i saw the 3rd part and loll'ed ... zeitgeist deserves its own article actually as is pretty much an internet based movement .... they are srsly retarded .... i dont know what state the Atheist article is in... though i suspect some good stuff has been taken out... Blargh was a good writer and an intellegent guy (kinda frightening seeing as he was a nazi / christfag)

ironically Christians take a trolling far better than Atheists ... all i have done is write a couple of article of Militant Atheists on Youtube and reverted some butthurt bawwing bout the atheist article from people who think "ED should be on our side!!!" and i get trolled by random atheists who seem to think i am butthurt about something (despite the fact i am an atheist who doesnt accept something that has no scientific proof - (part time agnosticism)

there is little better trolling technique than calling dawkins an idiot (which can be backed up) .. when in a room full of people that parrot his dogma € Zenophile ﮚ æ ◄ Ǽ Talk ► 18:44, 8 May 2008 (EDT)

example:

a: dawkins is liek amazing ... FSM is so lol and isnt tired meme ... he is one of the greatest minds eva!

b: dawkins is an idiot who is followed by sheep, it is just populist bullshit - plox recalibrate your greatest mids ever measurement device

a: how can you say that? i <3 him. how can you call the man responsible for the modern popular atheist uprising is populist bullshit

b: because the modern popular atheist uprising is populist bullshit ... you answered your own question.

as a caveat ... i actually vaguely like dawkins and think he serves a purpose - esp in the US cultural climate ... but he is often pwned over here in the wonderful secular utopia that is europe.

Do you really think that's a smart quote? The guy is saying that the King James Bible is the only type of Bible, that Hebrew can not be translated into English, thinks that carpenters in 1st Century Judea were of the upper class, that proof doesn't make something a theory but something higher (same thing Creationists do) and made up some word called "rebundantly" (which proves how serious he is) Extreme ewok 23:39, 23 June 2008 (CDT)

Gee thanks, but I'm a little busy, I'll try and get around to it, no harm in you altering the text though. Solarius 17:59, 15 August 2008 (CDT)
I did try but it is hard to see what you were trying to say and there doesn't seem to be any troll or humour value in it. The Moron "Pearl of Great Price" is miraculously the Book of the Dead before anyone else recovered it? Sounds like Joseph Smith's swindle spectacles all over again. R U 1 of them?PatrickBateman 08:34, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

I thought the reality was funnier than some of the stuff already there. Basically Joseph Smith claimed to know Egyptian, at the time no one could decipher it, so some archaeologist brought him some Egyptian scrolls from a burial. Joseph bullshited as he normally did, a few years after his death however, archaeologists discovered the Rosetta Stone which helped them translate Egyptian->Greek->English. Naturally they went back to that crap Joseph "translated" and it turned out, it was just an ordinary Egyptian burial book i.e. "The Book of The Dead".

TL;DR Basically Jospeh didn't keep the scrolls, he just got to read them and published his translation, the museum got to keep the originals, they were eventually mysteriously destroyed in a fire but not before they were confirmed to be nothing out of the ordinary. Mormons still believe that the scrolls were "Pearl of Great Price".

This should be added to the article IMO Solarius 08:53, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

  • Jeez louise, I do know some of the history but there is a logical fallacy in the way you tell it above, I agree that it might be worth adding but you have to keep it brief and put it *much* more clearly than you do above. To confirm: You are saying that POGP was stuff Joseph made up but was supposed to be a translation of the Egy. Bk. of the Dead because by then he had enough cash to get the scrolls? Are you saying that pre-Rosetta stone, he managed to do it with some accuracy? I must admit I have never read their POGP, the BoM is turgid and plagiarized enough (so I only got through about a tenth of it and wouldn't spend a minute on any more of their crap).PatrickBateman 11:13, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

Logical fallacy? I'm just telling it as it is, I'm not gonna sugar coat it. I quote from this website in regards to the PoGP:

" As we have indicated earlier, the second part of the Pearl Great Price contains the "Book of Abraham," It was supposed to have been written on Egyptian papyrus by Abraham himself about 4,000 years ago! According to Mormon officials, this same papyrus fell into Joseph Smith's hands and he began translating it in 1835. If the papyrus were really written by Abraham, its discovery was probably one of the most important finds in the history of the world. To say that the papyrus would be worth a million dollars would be greatly underestimating its value, for it would be older than any portion of the Bible.

For many years Joseph Smith's collection of papyri was lost and there was no way to check the accuracy of his translation. On Nov. 27, 1967, however, the Mormon-owned Deseret News made the startling announcement that the collection had been rediscovered in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The article went on to say: "Included in the papyri is a manuscript identified as the original document from which Joseph Smith had copied the drawing which he called 'Facsimile No. 1' and published with the Book of Abraham." The importance of this find cannot be overemphasized; it, in fact, made it possible to put Joseph Smith's ability as a translator of ancient Egyptian writing to an absolute test.

Although the Mormon Church tried to slow down the dissemination of material with regard to the Joseph Smith Egyptian Papyri, within six months from the time the Metropolitan Museum gave the papyri to the church, the Book of Abraham had been proven untrue! The fall of the Book of Abraham was brought about by the identification of the actual piece of papyrus from which Joseph Smith claimed to "translate" the book.

The identification of this fragment as the original from which Joseph Smith claimed to translate the Book of Abraham has been made possible by a comparison with Joseph Smith's Egyptian Alphabet and Grammar handwritten documents by Joseph Smith's scribes which we photographically reproduced in 1966. Noted Egyptologists Richard A. Parker and Klaus Baer have translated this papyrus fragment and found that it is in reality the Egyptian Book of Breathings. Other Egyptologists have confirmed that it is nothing but the Book of Breathings. Even the Mormon apologist Hugh Nibley has admitted this identification. In fact, he has even made his own translation of the text (see The Message of the Joseph Smith Papyri: An Egyptian Endowment, p. 18-45)."

I admit it's TL;DR but there should be some kind of mention of this. I never read the text themselves but just about them and their kooky ways. To clarify I'm trying to say Joseph Smith had some scrolls he gotten hold of, he claimed to have translated them at a time where people did not understand Egyptian, several years later Egyptian was deciphered, a Mormon translator admitted that the scrolls used did not translate into the PoGP and were actually a funerary text known as the "Book of Breathing". Solarius 11:51, 18 August 2008 (CDT)

  • Yes, it is tl;dr. I read your last post with care. This is not any kind of trolling but I still don't get ur point. The claim to have translated them when people did not understand *ancient hieroglyphics* (there were always some outside Egypt who understood Coptic, also known as Egyptian); all I can see besides that is some attempt to put one of their miracle claims (by a known snake-oil salesman, so particularly hard to believe) in an ED article. Maybe you are just not stating the point of minor lulz that you want to state in a clear enough way. Only lulzy thing I could see was the bit about burning the mss accidentally.PatrickBateman 07:48, 19 August 2008 (CDT)

Hey there

Great work fighting vandals, the templates you created are helpful as well. Keep up the good work friend =) DCY

Thanks! lol I thought I was gonna get a banhammer warning for spamming the recent edits page. BTW I tried adding these templates to the main template page but my wiki editing skillz aren't leet enough, could you add them for me? Solarius 07:57, 21 August 2008 (CDT)
  • Sure, I know you did the {{Sex}} one but I'm forgetting which other ones at the moment. If you can drop a note on my talk I'll make sure to add them. DCY
  • Done. What I'd like to do sooner or later though is when you think those templates are "complete" (or as close to "complete" as you can get them) to lock them down. Then whenever you need to add anything to them you can just drop a note on the talk pages and I or another sysop will go ahead and add them for you. Let me know. And again, great work on all of them Solarius, just fantastic. DCY
  • okay well then let's just keep them open for now, we've had some determined template vandals in the past though which is why I would eventually like to lock them. If he shows up we may need to lock temporarily but we'll just leave them open for now. If theres any problems with vandals that we somehow miss just drop me or another sys a note about it and we'll take care of it =)

Nope, he still hasn't answered me about that. He didn't deny it, though, so I figured we might as well keep him there... the Islam template could use more content anyway. Angelinriotgear 20:45, 22 September 2008 (CDT)

Countries

If you're linking articles around it might just be easier to drop the {{commonwealth}} template on them instead.

 TALKSTALK  07:34, 10 November 2008 (CST)

I was being a little more specific in the linking, for those countries I was adding their respective neighbours and what not. I hope that's ok. Solarius 07:52, 10 November 2008 (CST)
  • Btw, it's probably best to just leave any ED classic alone from now on, there's no point tagging them you mine as well leave them as they are. Thx.

 TALKSTALK  09:21, 10 November 2008 (CST)

I just tagged articles that were stagnant and were just a little random/uncyclopedic in nature, just suggestions that was all. It's no big deal if they get deleted or not, I just thought I might help mopping up as I was going through articles. Solarius 09:32, 10 November 2008 (CST)

re:template

Hmmmm, well I think that 13 countries isn't really enough to justify a template, one thats already sort of covered with the {{commonwealth}} template, which I noticed you modeled it on. I think the idea of continent templates, although they could be mildly useful, is not a great one as thats more akin to something you'd see on TOW and not really in ED's stride. That's not to say that those templates couldn't be done, for example, an Australia locations one could possibly be done, or a European one. We already have a American template but that's a bit different, there are articles on almost all the states and most of the readers are yanks so its obvious why we have it. It's just unecessary I think. It's possible that you could put in a coutries section in the {{afro}} template, but I'm not really sure that it would need it.

I think a much better use of time, at least for right now, would be to put any missing countries in the template, and find any articles that need it.

 TALKSTALK  08:33, 12 November 2008 (CST)

  • I'm not sure I'd worry about the European one tbh, it would be just another template on a page and we have a lot of pages cluttered as it is. But if you were going to make a Eurofag one it'd be better if it was original or had an edge or something, ie. not just a copy of the commonwealth template, that's lame. You'd want it to be original and not just a generic design from another template, we already have enough clone templates as it is. If you want to help, we can always use help with what I just mentioned above in relation to the commonwealth template, I unlocked it for you, let me know when you're done so I can lock it again.

 TALKSTALK  13:06, 12 November 2008 (CST)

  • It's not really important, the template is supposed to be a listing of countries, just as long as they're listed then it doesn't really matter.

re:feedback

sure give me a bit i'll have a read and get back to you, they both look greatly improved on first glance.

 TALKSTALK  23:28, 25 January 2009 (CST)

  • Right I took a look and tweaked it a bit. I think we can toss India the front page with a little more cleanup. I'd like you to try and cut down any tl;dr sections though, ie. the History sections (of both articles). Although they're fine and you've used solid satire outlining the histories, our readers just tend to lose interest in anything like that and trimming them to just the basics whilst preserving lulz would probably improve both quite a bit. I was going to cut them down but figured you'd probably want to trim with them on your own. If you can find any more lulzy pics that's always a plus too. When you're done hit me up and I'll save a spot in early Feb for it. Both pages look much better now, A++.

 TALKSTALK  10:47, 27 January 2009 (CST)

  • It's better if you do it, If I chop it up it'd be with a dull blade, and I don't really have time to rewrite it anyways. Just reduce the long sections to the essential lulz and lmk when you're done.

Sorry, I've not had anything sadly, had a few ED Page change emails in my spam filter, but that was all. Can you possibly paste it up on my description page or have a link to it online at all?--Uncle Bastard 06:16, 29 January 2009 (CST)
Wow, that's fucking mental. You couldn't make that shit up!!! Would you happen to know if the Girl in question was the one he made loads of rant videos about and got his E-lawyer mother to call?
Also is this info for ED? or are you keeping hold of it until you have more details Etc.?
But that's excellent work my friend, kudos!!!--Uncle Bastard 09:57, 29 January 2009 (CST)
Just spoke to a friend who works in the profession, he said it would be possible to obtain a copy of his asylum notes, but you would have to pay to get them.--Uncle Bastard 14:53, 29 January 2009 (CST)
Sadly not no, He knows "of" Spax because of all the drama he caused, but has nothing to do with, nor wants to have anything to do with him. He's on the Video Game Reviewer list article himself ironically!
That's interesting about his mother, I know she became disabled in a plane crash, but I assumed it meant she was in a wheelchair, so it's possibly it was mentally. If you want some info on Spax, you could speak to This guy they were originally friends but had a huge falling out because of that girl, he took her side.--Uncle Bastard 09:22, 30 January 2009 (CST)

Interesting, you can't find out her Youtube name at all by any chance? I spoke to another girl that knows him last night and she said everything your source said was true. As for the job thing I spoke to SPax a few weeks ago and he told me he works in EB Games, has he quit since or something?--Uncle Bastard 12:41, 31 January 2009 (CST)

Question Re: Spax3

Do you know if it's possible to embed videos onto ED at all? Spax is on a false copyright claim spree at the moment, half of the ED videos have been taken down and I was wondering if theres another way?

Also do you know how to put boxes round things? Or if there's a page to show what templates for boxes there are? Cheers!--Uncle Bastard 08:47, 1 February 2009 (CST)

Well the reason Spax is getting away with all these false claims are sites like YouTube are complete and utter fucking pussies, who can't even be bothered to check a video (I had one taken down by a company just because I mentioned in the video description a guy in the video (which I 100& owned) now works for them, thats it!!!).
Anyhoo, YT's view is "guilty until proven innocent", totally ass-backwards, so it's not worth the effort of contesting. He's getting away due to third parties sheer laziness and cowardice. Cunt.
But someone does need to inform these other companies, see if the shoe fits ont he other foot for Spaxy Waxy :D --Uncle Bastard 15:03, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Those pages were added to the template. Also, I ported over the India article, images and all. Not sure if the other ops will agree with it being there, but give it a crack. - Raspberry Rush (talk)
