Hey. On the PN wiki, we are experiencing more vandals and due to a lack of [decent] Sysops we need an automated solution. I was looking into a pthon library but this system seems to be much more advanced. We are making MAJOR changes to the Patriotic Nigras article because it currently looks like shit. These changes include removing most of the irrelevant and stupid shit, and moving the less relevant and slightly unimportant shit to separate articles. When I copy-paste'd my full revised article into the thing, it got reverted for vandalism. It was suggested that I make multiple small edits, so I tried to do that and now I'm banned for doing THAT. Okay...so let's do this. Obviously RaspberryRush and ChunkyMonkey should get full Sysops for the other work they're doing. I'm looking into mediawiki stuff we can add to give 'deputy' powers to certain users who may not have the tenure to qualify per GV. See User talk:Alison (from TOW) for some input she gave me. That said, I think Crazyconan, ToddMcCloud, Penni-Piper and MudkipzPlz would fit the bill as RC cops. Thoughts? Anyone else? Yeah. I did write her an email about it as well as posting on the list, but haven't heard anything back. If you talk with her, tell her what we have in mind...a couple of full Sysops for EDiots with tenure, and some RC deputies with limited powers from our list of most active nubs.

Tell her that most of our Sysops pop in once in a while, but most are off more than on. I don't think they should be deSysop'd cos it doesn't hurt to have then even for a day here and there, but:

Mainstays like JailBait, Weatherman, Zenophile, Subseven, Chankachankaboo, Yiri and Hoveround have been notably MIA.

TFO, DLB, Blu, Entropy, Finney are sometimes around but not regularly.

Mori, Krade and iicatsii drop in once in a blue moon

Neurophyre, Riboflavin, SchmuckyTheCat, and Sheneequa seem to be completely inactive but all have said they'd be back when they could.

Dianoga seems to have quit entirely and Jess and Siannan really never did anything except post to the admin list.

So...in effect, we really only have 4 reliably active full-time Sysops to cover everything at the moment. Of course, a lot of the RC work was outsourced to MysteryBot but overall quality is suffering. Mainly, with Killhamster tied up watching Newpages and RC, and DCY, Endedrural and PAS having to run all over the place patching leaks in the ship like maintaining Main Page content, it's hard to attend to basic shit like Open Tasks and helping EDiots make decent articles into good articles.

I say we get 4 new full-blown Sysops, and a half dozen deputies with limited powers who we will ask -or designate- tasks to. We need RC cops, we need an Orphan Czar, people to answer nub Talk page questions when Sysops aren't around, people to fix basics like bad formatting and categorising new articles (or sending them to {{userspace}}) in need and they need /b/lackup incase they can't or don't perform up to par. --O☭B • ? • 18:22, 5 October 2008 (CDT)

• Go for it. Ima have the names above fill out applications and I'm also gonna pass on Allie's suggestion that we upgrade the wiki softwarez. The other problem for me is still the old Mac; it's so slow and full of AIDS that even editing a wiki is like I'm on dial-up (worse actually).

• Here...add this: You guys should really move on up to 1.13 if you can at all - there are a lot of changes and stuff in there, some of which are to do with vandalbots and edit throttling, etc. You can seriously hang up a wiki running 1.11 if you know what you're at (and I ain't tellin'!). With those vandalbots you're getting, you can just run the Nuke extension and wipe out all their edits in about a second - Alliecat

Hey mate, I don't have a wiki installed on my machine anymore but I have played with in the past. Math isnt going to be used much on this site anway (unless theres an equivelent of spelling BOOBIES upside down on a calcular) and the those type of captchas are fucking useless. I'd just advise using reCaptcha as it seems a little more secure for starters, and it'd take less hoking around. If you lot had your heart set on using the math one, for some perverse reason, you could always update to the latest (I noticed ED is an 1.10, no major security problems with that to my mind its good housekeeping anyways) as the least technical method of fixing stuff. Also, a small dose of RTFM.

Oh! Unrelated; but while I have your ear.
