Comment BREAKING: Vloggerheads is matter-of-factly harboring and supporting pedophiles.

When legions of fragile vloggers first sought refuge in The Promised Land during The Great Exodus over a year and a half ago, the emotionally frail masses desired a sanctuary from haters, from trolls, from the daily reminders of how socially inept, unwanted, and un-photogenic most of them really are. A few people found it. Most did not. Since that day the silently desperate and perpetually disgruntled have pined for an utopic vlogger Shangri-La. Enter Vloggerheads.com.

[edit] Origins

Paul knows best.
Paul knows best.

After 2 years on the tubes, Renetto became disillusioned with his YouTube experience: he'd fallen out of favor with the YouTube staff, most people had become tired of his consistent thumbnail cheating, his sensationalist tactics, and his penchant for controversial and shallow content. The general consensus of the YouTube "community" had become that renetto (aka Paul Robinett} would do nearly anything to get views, and after a brief attempt at creating drama once more by whining incessantly over being DMCA'd as well as engaging in yet another asinine (and very anti-climactic) flame war with Greg Solomon, Paul made a statement, in true drama queen fashion, that he was going to leave YouTube forever - this despite being part of YouTube's partner program. Of course, he never actually did leave (and most likely never will) but this lead him to move initiate plans - which were initially begun at the turn of 2006-7, to create his own vlogger website (initially titled "RenettoTube"). The site was launched at the end of July, 2008.

The Rules of Vloggerheads
  1. Thou shalt not talk about Vloggerheads.
  2. Thou SHALT NOT talk about Vloggerheads.
  3. Thou shalt not anger the king or thou will suffer the consequences.
  4. Thou shalt not troll.

[edit] The Site Itself

Vloggerheads distilled.
Vloggerheads distilled.

Vloggerheads.com is a website that offers solace to aspiring e-celebrities, the emotionally delicate, naive, lonely, and anyone else whom feels under-appreciated in their failed ventures into vlogdom. The site is essentially a (barely) functional mirror of an archaic version of YouTube which incorporates an active "anti-trolling" system to discourage trolling any behavior not sanctioned by the powers that be. The site's purpose is to offer a "hate-free" environment for vloggers, and EDiot infiltration and research has revealed a virtual blocking system is in place. It is essentially based on the honor system. If you are asked by someone not to post comments on their videos and not to contact them, you will be banned if you do. Additionally, there is an ambiguous nomination system currently in place for inviting new members. If a member invited is banned from the site (for whatever reason) the person whom nominated them loses their ability to nominate/invite in the future. In all cases, only those whom the Vloggerheads Gestapo (tlg847, renetto, Kenrg, Faintstarlite, josephbeuys, Periurban) approve of are allowed to join, and to stay. In addition to this, the site has touted an Identity Verification program it will eventually incorporate to validate memberships, one which relies on users disclosing credit card information and/or other personal information. Yes, we're srs.

The stench of faggotry and pretentiousness resulting from the Vloggerheads drama has been polluting YouTube for a good portion of the summer of 2008. The term unwarranted self importance truly fails to adequately encompass the exact intentions and mindset of the creator(s) in this case, as the site is, for all intents and purposes, simply an online oligarchy for the faint of heart. The site exists to provide a safe haven and shield against any criticism for the easily irritated. Given the nature of the system in place it would seem foolish to oppose administrative didactics or prevailing opinions on site seeing as ignorance would truly be the best policy there if you wish to stay. This has only been proven as abuse of power has been shown to be shockingly common since the site's inception. Free speech is more a privilege there, not a right, and should you annoy the adminstrators, whom have made surgical efforts to feign the notion they rule with a "fair" hand, you may find your ass curbside. The pressure towards a mob-like groupthink is obviously palpable and most members will have to walk on egg shells should they want to keep from getting raped by the banhammer. Of course, the blatant irony is that the site itself, which is supposedly a drama-free zone, was the brainchild of one of the biggest drama whores in the history of YouTube itself - if not the biggest.

The site is indeed a new home to many scorned vloggers and past YouTube and Live Video lolcows, individuals whom desperately desire a place to drone on about the boring aspects of their days without the risk of having their fragile egos levelled by meanies leaving a nasty text comment. Of course, given the nature of the individuals Vloggerheads has attracted, they have unsurprisingly brought shitloads of personal baggage with them on top of it, enough to assure their days will be drama filled and full of mind games with other e-pals. The site is, in a lot of ways, just a more advanced and ill-conceived version of the kewl kids club of yesteryear. But Vloggerheads itself is also a symbol of the misplaced nostalgia many YouTubers have for the 'good ol' days'. Many believe the site will somehow wind the clocks back to 2006 for them, releasing them from their ever-present fear of trolls, or that it will somehow wipe away their embarrassing e-trail of self-ownage. The site functions as an oasis of faggotry for lamers and old men, as well as a manifestation of a deep desire the frail and the easily vexed share for an exclusive online clubhouse, and for a return to an idyllic vlogger paradise they have built up in their minds. One that never existed in the first place.

In October '08, Vloggerheads opened it's doors for public viewing as part of Paul's not-to-subtle marketing plans for the site. Memberships must still be formerly approved by the admins though, meaning nothing's really changed. It is still, for all intents and purposes, the isolated and gated community it was when it first went online.

Vloggerheads is a both a confirmation and timely reminder that it is still serious business on the tubes.

[edit] The Vloggerheads TOS

The recently released TOS Community Guidelines:

Kenrg speaking about the "Identity Verification" system they will implement at VH.

Vloggerheads will require members to provide their credit card number and/or a wealth of personal information to remain on the site. The information will be visible to ALL 6 administrators.
UPDATE: This may have been complete bullshit from the get go as it was most likely just a lofty concept that was promoted to comfort the eternally butthurt. The site now being open to public viewing, combined with the general outrage and resistance it created, probably means they will backpedal their asses off and scuttle the issue altogether - if they actually plan to ever address it.

tlg847 lamenting over "spies" in his happy kingdom.

[edit] Sweet Irony

After 2 years on the tubes, Argent009, a man who's had his problems with trolls, made a very astute commentary on Vloggerheads. Argent used to consider the internets very serious business, but seems to have drastically changed his philosophy on the internet and trolls over time. He warns Vloggerheads users that they are only inviting trollage with their faggotry...

There are a few people who you guys would consider "haters" that were able to teach me a few things about being a vlogger. One of the first things is if you take yourself seriously, and you're a vlogger...you're asking for trouble. You have to realize that if you're putting your face out here on the internet, you're an attention whore, and you are asking for people to criticize everything you do. You're asking for people to look at your videos and pick out everything you could do that could be possibly wrong, and point it out. Why else would you be on here if you weren't a bit of an attention whore?

Argent009

Hell just froze over!

[edit] ZenArcher talks about VH problems

Zen recently addressed some of the problems on site concerning not only the delicate politics that exist there, but also the surreptitious mind games, lack of communication, and efforts of many members to silence dissent and keep the status quo, as well as the inclination some members have for speaking for everyone.

Battim wasn't happy that I wanted to allow everyone in and accused me of being someone who was supporting hate, tried to convince me that I was wrong. I tried to tell him I wasn't interested, it went on. In my view he was trying to manipulate me using underground methods in order to get me to take his side and agree with him. So in my rant video I called him out on it.

—ZenArcher, addressing Battim's often surreptitious machinations and megalomania.

In my opinion Vloggerheads is going in the trash can...and its going there fast.

—ZenArcher, telling VH what everyone knows already.

The vlogging Mecca was rocked with scandal in October of 2008 when it was discovered that within these hallowed halls was none other than registered sex offender Joshua Adam Harrison. Apparently Joshua had made it through the Vheads ultra-intensive security measures without a hitch. When questioned about their judgement in this matter, one founding member responded:

And, what if the record is correct? What should we do?

tlg847

When asked about the possible dangers to children, Tom also had this to say:

VH is an over-18 site. And, we're also public. That means that anybody can view the site but only people who claim to be over 18 can interact with others. If there's somebody lying about their age on our site, they really aren't doing too much more than they could so simply by watching the vid publicly. And, to be honest, the age-verifying lie detectors were just a tad over our budget at this point. BTW, if you'd seen our site you'd see that kids aren't very likely to want to spend time there.

[edit] Quotes

I found more hostility, suspicion and clicky bullshit on vloggerheads than I have ever seen here on youtube. I still believe there are some very talented people there, and I am sad that I feel the site is destined to be a big club for only a select few that choose to act fake for the sake of their supposed perfect vlogging community.

acroduster, one of several people whom have left the site already.

The vloggers claim their new community is already “under attack” by bullies from YouTube, and considering the urgency with which they address the camera, you almost expect to hear bombs in the background — but then you remember that middle-aged men who spend all their time making videos on YouTube might also take all sorts of things more seriously than most people.

—From NewTeeVee a lame ass blog about "viral" video

Montagraph is trolling over there a bit, Battim is crying about egang members being on the site and that Montagraph is trolling...

[edit] The Future of Vloggerheads

The ultimate irony. This, along with the recent news that VH is harboring pedophiles like Josh Harrison, is a sign the admins judgement is a little questionable.
The ultimate irony. This, along with the recent news that VH is harboring pedophiles like Josh Harrison, is a sign the admins judgement is a little questionable.

There isn't one.
Under every scenario the inevitable collapse of the website is an obvious denouement. More shoddy than Live Video and twice as restrictive, it was doomed from its conception and most of the members are likely aware of it, although they probably won't admit it. There are many reasons why the site isn't likely to last, but whether the site is able to weather those initial hurdles or not, it has received enough bad publicity to seriously affect it's growth and appeal - growth that was already stunted by the enormous obstacles the creator(s) face simply getting the site off the ground. In October '08, Vloggerheads opened it's doors for public viewing, but not memberships, meaning it is still the gated community it was intended to be. This can only be seen as an extension of Renetto's marketing plans for the site.

But despite Renetto's best efforts to pimp the site on Youtube, which he's done by matter-of-factly stealing other VH users' videos and posting them on his channel without their permission (monetizing these copyright infringing "promo" videos in the process), the site still has the appearance of a sinking ship. If their YouTube history is any measure of the inclination of the members to be goaded, or the transient nature of their easily altered loyalties, then the truth is that the goals of the site and the founding members are far too utopian for it to survive more than a few months. Lately it's becoming more and more apparent that Renetto's ultimate goal was to market the site for a sell-off sometime in the future. Apparently, as membership grows, Renetto will slowly start selling all pieces of it to the Jews, starting with advertising links, then copyright over videos, to finally, banhammer rights. Youtube has grown too big for his faggotry. Eventually the platform hopes include group think software and scented candles shaped in the form of dildos.

[edit] Trivia

  • Vloggerheads is registered on ning.com. It is not so much its own site as a private group on an existing website, one that specializes in hosting private porn groups.
  • The site partially functions as an exploit for Renetto to collect info on perceived E-enemies.
  • Several hundred users have left or been banned thus far, there are now over 1000 members there as of October, 2008.
