This article is a keg of shit that has been fermenting so long it's just about ready to explode. It is an abhorrence and blasphemy of Encyclopediadramatica's good name.

You can help by fixing it or it will be deleted within the next few days. All crap articles are in the same boat.

Ilias Lazaridis is a Usenet and mailing list troll who specializes in baiting programming language fans.

Targets of Ilias have included, among others:

Ilias has a unique and time-tested trolling formula that is particularly suited for the mailing list format, where posters are prone to making long drawn out replies, and threads typically run to a large size.

He first enters a community by posing as a newbie and asking questions about the language that are calculated to bring out its greatest advocates; frequent Lazaridis conversation starters involve asking about some feature that is generally considered favorable compared to a competing language, instantly awakening the fans.

Ilias then switches gear and starts making increasingly bizarre and nonsensical inquiries about obscure or highly technical features of the language, while still maintaining ignorance. He refers to this as an "evaluation case", and his website is full of "templates" he has created to evaluate languages and other computer systems.

This is the crucial point where Ilias starts reeling in his victims by the dozens by going on the offensive. No longer feigning ignorance and with a captive audience of fans, he proceeds to harshly critique his subject matter. This is a guaranteed opportunity for lulz.

lazaridis.com is where Ilias hosts his evaluation cases and a series of bizarre diagrams and technobabble. To an uninformed observer, the site appears to belong to an IT professional, whereas it is in fact a personal troll library.

Ilias's Live Ruby USENET evaluation contains links to several threads in which he trolled comp.lang.ruby.

Here is Ilias baiting a Python mailing list.

Ilias has also evaluated Java.

As of late Ilias has targeted the Python community, and particularly has made a target out of the Trac project. See here for his omnibus screed against the mean, incompetent Trac developers.
